APIDA 2014 Winner visited The Mira Moon Hotel, PMQ and Jockey Club Innovation Tower at PolyU
Apart from the stunning night of APIDA Gala Dinner and Prize Presentation Ceremony on 22 Nov 2014, HKIDA had organized the visit to The Mira Moon Hotel, PMQ and Jockey Club Innovation Tower at PolyU. The interior design of the selected places well delivers its own characteristics, the combination of eastern and western culture as well as the intrinsic composition of the landscape. The overseas participants enjoyed a relaxing and knowledgeable day tour at those spots.

Under the creative direction of Wanders & yoo, this unique 91 room Mira Moon Hotel presents a refreshing reinterpretation of Chinese traditions in contemporary Hong Kong. The interior design takes as its starting point the Moon Festival fairy-tale, a legend in Chinese mythology about the Moon Goddess of Immortality. Updating this tale to suit a contemporary setting, the characters from the story and traditional Chinese culture are represented throughout the spaces and expressed through modern furnishings.

The PMQ had subsequently served as the Central School (Queen‘s College) and the Former Hollywood Road Police Married Quarters in the past, and has now been transformed into a landmark for the creative industries in Hong Kong. The guided tour was prepared by PMQ to introduce historical spots to APIDA winners.

The Jockey Club Innovation Tower is home to PolyU‘s School of Design and is the new driving force in the development of Hong Kong as a design hub in Asia. The design concept, in its first instance, collects the variety of programs of the school. Having undergone a strict process of examination of the multiple relationships amongst their unique identities they have been arranged in accordance to their ’collateral flexibilities‘. The participants took photo at the well-known Architect, Zaha Hadid‘s first project in Hong Kong.
