2Es Survey
The Industry Survey on the 2Es–Education and Experience of Interior Design in Hong Kong is now well underway. In the education part of the survey, around 10 institutions offering interior design courses in Hong Kong has already agreed to take part. Their teachers and students will complete questionnaires concerning course content, syllabus design and program objective. In addition, interviews have been conducted with chief administrators of these institutions in order to identify the goals of each interior design program and the future needs of the schools.
For the “experience” part of the survey, we are in the process of compiling a database of all interior design firms in Hong Kong and making an estimate of the total number of practitioners in the industry. Next, we will invite select employers and employees of these companies for focus groups to get a fuller picture of the current state of the industry and pinpoint any problems it is facing at present and the future aspiration of the profession.
